Semblance
Richard Marsden's prints are inspired by construction and the elements of architecture we cannot see. These functional objects are then placed in a two dimensional space to create new formalistic compositions. The finished prints are the result of many developmental drawings. The artist looks for balance and reducing each finished print to its bare essentials which results from many developmental drawings.
Semblance uses a basic grid to inform the composition, allowing Marsden to focus on contrast and harmony between the colours, including the subtle overlaps. Within this print the darker section forms the main structure, framed by the lighter colours, creating a very simple visual balance.
Each work is hand-printed within the edition and will have unique qualities and variations through the artist's process of printing
All our prints come unframed
