Richard Marsden
Richard Marsden is a printmaker from Leeds, currently living and working in Glasgow. After studying Graphic Arts & Design at Leeds Beckett University, where he was awarded the course prize for Best Printmaker, Marsden went onto complete a Masters in Fine Art Practice (Printmaking) at the Glasgow School of Art. He has exhibited both in the UK and internationally, including at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum the Dornoch Project Space, McLellan Galleries, Leeds Corn Exchange and a recent solo show at Whitegrid Gallery, Berlin. He is also a founding and cooperative member of the Leeds Print Workshop. His work is in the permanent collection of Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, Pallant House Gallery and Glasgow Print Studio.
Marsden creates formalistic geometric compositions inspired by architecture and construction using screen printing, a process which allows him to experiment with overlapping layers of colour, exploring relationships between individual forms in the search for an overall visual balance.
