Yoonjung Shim
South Korean born, Yoonjung Shim is a printmaker based in London and a member of Southbank Printmakers & Printmakers Council. Her work explores the aesthetic of abstract, conceptual and geometric compositions in various kinds of etchings mostly within a small square format. With interests in architecture and interior design, she portrays geometric patterns that we encounter in our everyday lives. Shim loves the subtle inconsistencies created by human strokes, which convey faint unevenness and originalities that differ from digital computerized graphics. By threading contemporary patterns into a very traditional medium, she creates an artistic fusion between past and present.
Her works have been exhibited in the UK and abroad including at the Summer Exhibition at Royal Academy, National Original Print Exhibition at Bankside Gallery in London, and the Manhattan Graphic Center in New York.
