Green Hues

This unique print by Richard Marsden is part of a larger series of one-off works that he has been working on this year. His works are inspired by construction and are created by building in two-dimensions until a visual balance is created in each print. Richard looks for this balance by reducing each finished print to its bare essentials but unlike Linear Trio, which was created very quickly, Green Hues was almost the opposite. The more layers that he added, the more interesting it became and eventually a gradient effect was revealed. He added the dark pink band to help break up the grid-like composition of the top of the print, separating it from the bottom section which acts almost like a visual foundation of the print.
